Before

This spacious kitchen from the mid 1970s featured a peninsula with tile countertops, white cabinets and outdated appliances. The space was perfect to build a brand new kitchen and we couldn’t wait to demo the old design and start fresh with a blank canvas.

Renovation

The entire kitchen was demolished, starting with the old appliances, counters and cabinets. We removed the old tile floor and pantry. The refrigerator was relocated to the opposite side, and we expanded the cabinetry area in both directions to create a “frame” around the kitchen using floor to ceiling cabinets. A large kitchen island was built with additional storage space. Then we installed a water-proof laminate flooring.

After

The star of the new kitchen is the beautiful mixed media backsplash that features shades of gray and blue glass tile to complement the gray, white and dark colors throughout the rest of the kitchen, as well as the stainless steel appliances. We chose white upper cabinets for the middle of the kitchen to brighten the space and create a centralized area framed by the gray floor-to-ceiling cabinets.

The huge kitchen island with the beautiful dark granite countertop completes the open-concept kitchen, while adding additional storage. To finish off we installed new dimmable recessed LED lighting and contemporary light fixtures. The completed project is a modern, elegant kitchen with new appliances, lots of space and storage, functional, comfortable and stylish!
