Before

This bathroom in a Capitol Hill mansion in Denver needed ceiling and floor repairs, as well as some fixtures upgrades. The challenge was to renovate the space while preserving the integrity and character of a vintage home built in the late 1800s

To highlight the existing blue tile strip from the wainscot, we chose a floor tile that resembled the same color and cracked appearance. The ceiling and walls were repaired with new drywall and finished with smooth texture and paint.

After

The most dramatic transformation of this charming bathroom is the new herringbone tile floor that closely matches the original blue tile strip on the wall; its cracked appearance maintains the vintage look of the room. We also repaired some spots of the tile wall with pieces of the same old tile that were relocated from a less conspicuous area.

We replaced the old vanity with a classic pedestal sink that makes the room more spacious. Some of the plumbing was updated and a new toilet was installed. We added a simple shelf to compensate for the loss of counter space, and replaced the light fixture with canless recessed lighting. Finally we kept the same antique mirror to preserve character.
